RENOVATIONS
TO BUILDING WW-15
OFFICE OF LABORATORY SUPPLIES
Cambridge, MA
MIT's Office of Laboratory Supplies (OLS),
including both its administrative offices and central warehouse
operations, were moved into an existing 41,000 gross square foot warehouse
/ office building located approximately one mile from the main MIT
campus . The move necessitated a full renovation of the building
interior, rehabilitation of the building exterior, and
significant site improvements in order to fit the facility into its
surrounding residential neighborhood.
The project required a careful solution
to the problem of providing for handicap accessibility; in addition
the renovation had to be designed to accommodate the operation of
MIT's Furniture Exchange, a small agency completely separate from the
OLS. Of particular importance to the projects success was correct design
for shipping and truck access and rehabilitation of the buildings
loading dock.
DiMarinisi & Wolfe's design met all
of the Institute's project requirements in a direct and cost
effective way and yielded a completed, operational facility that has been
accepted by its neighbors. |
