North
Street Commercial Building
Lexington, MA
The North Street Project in Lexington presented
the design problem of how to convert an abandoned auto repair shop into
an attractive commercial building. The design by DiMarinisi &
Wolfe divided the building into two shop spaces with a central,
decorative entry screen in front of them. The screen, as the major
new building element, provided an inexpensive way to give the otherwise
simple structure a presence that would be noticed from the street and
would locate the shop entries. Pastel colors with some darker
accents were used to give the building a light and pleasant appearance.
