Harvard
Crimson Building
Cambridge, MA
The existing Harvard Crimson Building
in Harvard Square required extensive renovation and refurbishing
and the construction of a significant addition to house a
modernized college newspaper operation. The design required a new
interior layout that could be built economically on a very
restricted site, that could fit in the existing building and the
addition required the provision of handicap accessibility features,
including grade access, a new elevator and accessible toilets. The
completed design, which needed a zoning variance, received the
approval of all the City of Cambridge review boards and was praised as
the proper way to renovate and add to an important part of
Harvard Square's existing building fabric.
DiMarinisi & Wolfe provided full
architectural services from program verification through completion
of the construction contract. |
