DiMarinisi & Wolfe (D&W provided
the programming, site design and schematic building design study
services for the new CSRDC at the Engineering and Computer Science
Complex. Based upon the study results, D&W also prepared a
complete modular construction procurement RFP for the project, which was
built adjacent to Governors Drive at the northern edge of the University
of Massachusetts' Amherst campus.
The CSRDC is a new three story building
designed to house the Computer Science Department's faculty offices,
computer research laboratories, central computer facility, classrooms
and instructional labs. The D&W design takes advantage of the
existing slope of the site to provide major entries to the building at
both the ground floor and second floor levels. The upper entry
provides easy access from the west for pedestrian traffic to and from
existing computer science facilities and the lower entry connects to the
paths from nearby engineering buildings.
